Cookery
Culinary courses are now being offered at Taku Resort. Chefs from around BC and the world are coming to enjoy all the fresh local food Quadra Island and the surrounding areas can offer. Everyone in the class will have to participate to make sure you take away as much as possible.
Cooking with Chef Benedict Haines
January 13th – 15th
Chef Benedict Haines has already put on an extremely successful three day culinary course this past August. He loved all that Quadra Island had to offer so he’s back again and is very excited to put on a one and a half day course. This package includes everything from transportation, accommodation, all meals, course materials, one and a half days of cooking instruction and participation.
Chef Benedict co-owns the highly respected Walnut Grove Cookery. Consistently within the top-10 ranked “Culinary Holiday Destinations in Europe”, it is found within the bountiful Loire Valley in France. He guarantees to inspire your imagination through practical, simple and fun course instruction that will increase your confidence and transform your culinary skills.
This weekend cooking course will expose you to beautiful and tasty gourmet dishes and give you the skills to create them yourself. The day will start with the basics, knife skills, then on to learning about soups and seasoning and then you’ll create the main dish for dinner. The Sunday will be focused on pastry skills and the Taku challenge. The Taku challenge is where students work together to create a gourmet lunch using their new skills.
This course has been designed for those looking to bring their culinary skills to the next level. Cooks from all skill levels will be able to take something away with them. Class size is limited to six people.
